The Pastoral Team
We offer our students a pastoral system designed to help them appreciate their unique identities, understand their relationships with others, and actively participate in society as compassionate and capable individuals.
The aims of pastoral support at The Windmill Primary Federation:
- Creating an environment where children feel safe, supported, and valued, fostering their learning, growth, and social development within a healthy and secure setting.
- Providing tailored support that meets the diverse needs of every child, equipping them with essential life skills.
- Assisting children in addressing their social, spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical needs.
- Collaborating with parents/carers to ensure they feel confident that their children are being educated in a nurturing and safe environment.
- Promoting self-reflection in students by encouraging them to recognise and embody our core values: Friendship, Kindness, Courage, Honesty, Resilience, and Gratitude.
- Partnering with parents, support staff, outreach agencies, and other schools to guarantee the continuity and progress of individual pupils.
The role of the Pastoral Support Team:
- Offering pastoral care to individual children or groups, addressing various issues such as self-esteem, confidence, bereavement, managing emotions, anxieties, separation, and the development of social and friendship skills.
- Collaborating with staff to ensure strong pupil support while fostering the caring and respectful relationships that exist between staff, students, and their families.
- Working with parents to address pastoral concerns that may impact their child’s learning and development.
- Addressing situations as they arise within the school environment.
- Meeting with parents/carers to discuss concerns related to their child.
- Guiding families to external services for additional support when needed.
